FORUM ECOTECH 2014 CELEBRATES THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Today, on September 17, 2014 in Almaty the 10th Anniversary Central Asian International Exhibition and Forum for Environmental Technologies, Waste Management & Recycling, Industrial Water Treatment and Green Innovations – EcoTech 2014 has opened. The exposition presented about 30 companies from the UK, Denmark, Germany, Italy, China, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Finland.

The Exhibition has been attended by the leading industry experts: Director of Waste Products Department of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Beybut Maratkhanovich Shakhanov; Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control of Astana City Administration, Yerkebulan Nurlanovich Orazalin; Head of Waste Management Division of Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control of Astana City Administration, Miras Gaysin; Head of Environmental Information Division of Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control of Astana City Administration, Aukhinova Nazia Nurtazovna; Director of the Centre "Promotion of Sustainable Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan", Executive Director of the Kazakhstan Association of Waste Management "KazWaste", Vera Vladilenovna Mustafina; Executive Director of the Kazakhstan Association of Nature Users for Sustainable Development (KANUSD), Galina Viktorovna Artyukhina; Deputy General Manager of the Department of Production Optimization of Safety Engineering and Environmental Protection of TengizChevrOil LLP, Arman Gabitovich Sadirbaev and many others.

The adviser of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department of the Polish Embassy Wlodzimierz Kurowski has personally presented an extensive exposition of the Ministry of Economy of Poland, which has united at its stand leading Polish manufacturers and service providers within the sector of innovative "green" technologies.

For the first time, Kazakhstan Association of Waste Management "KazWaste" has taken part in the Exhibition, where it has presented more than 30 companies – leaders in the field of waste management, which operate in all regions of Kazakhstan.

EcoTech 2014 has successfully hosted the International Conference on Development of Infrastructure for Waste Disposal in Kazakhstan.

The following issues have been offered for the discussion: extended producer responsibility (EPR) in tackling the problems of municipal solid waste (MSW); closed-loop economy (circular economy) – an innovative approach to the management of production and consumption waste in Kazakhstan for multi-use of products; MSW management at industrial sites; MSW processing; creation of infrastructure for waste disposal (including municipal solid and medical waste).

The Conference has also presented the results of the joint project of UNDP, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Samsung Electronics Central Eurasia Company: "Management of e-waste" and the practical experience of public-private partnership by the example of companies Samsung Electronics Central Eurasia, Alser and Sulpak.

The events are organized by the Kazakhstan Exhibition Company "Iteca" and its partner ITE Group Plc. (UK), with the support and participation of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, UNDP, Almaty City Administration, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Zhasyl Damu JSC. The largest Kazakhstan producer of paper and packaging «Kagazy Recycling» has provided the participants of EcoTech with eco-packages from recycled waste paper produced at its own production facilities.
